FIA 2014 Athens

NITlab team attended FIA 2014 in Athens, Greece, March 16th - 21th 2014.

Kostas Choumas presented SmartFIRE project (poster) and Nikos Makris presented FLEX project (poster).

Harris Niavis and Giannis Igoumenos participated in OpenLab booth, presenting OpenLab research project and giving a live demonstration of the NITOS uncontrolled mobility testbed (poster).

Stratos Keranidis and Virgilios Passas participated in CREW booth, giving a live demonstration of the NITOS Online Monitoring Framework for evaluating and characterizing the power consumption of cognitive platforms (poster).

Dimitris Giatsios attended the FIBRE booth, where apart from an overview of the project activities, a demo of Bandwidth on Demand services through an OpenFlow-based infrastructure was presented.

ICT 2013 in Vilnius

NITlab members Stratos Keranidis, Dimitris Giatsios and Giannis Kazdaridis attended ICT 2013 in Vilnius, Lithuania, November 6th - 8th 2013.

Stratos Keranidis participated in the CREW booth, giving a live demonstration of the NITOS Online Monitoring Framework for evaluating and characterizing the power consumption of cognitive platforms.

Dimitris Giatsios presented FIBRE research project (poster) and demonstrated a WiMAX to Wi-Fi handover experimentation as well (poster).

Giannis Kazdaridis gave a live demonstration of the work "Energy Monitoring and Control of Electrical Appliances" in the booth of the EINS project. More details regarding the demo are given here.

FUNEMs 2013 in Lisbon

NITlab member Stratos Keranidis attended FUNEMs 2013 in Lisbon, Portugal, between 3-5 July 2013.

Stratos Keranidis presented NITOS Energy Measurement Frameworks (NITOS EMF) in the Future Wired and Wireless Networks: Green, Heterogeneous and Cloud-powered workshop and also participated in the Demonstration Session, as part of the CREW project booth, where a live demo was presented that showcases the integration of NITOS EMF with the CREW benchmarking framework.

Mobicom 2013 in Miami

NITlab members Stratos Keranidis and Giannis Kazdaridis attended MobiCom and WiNTECH 2013 in Miami, Florida, USA, between Sept. 30 and Oct. 4 2013.

Stratos Keranidis presented NITOS Energy Consumption Monitoring Framework (NITOS EMF) in WiNTECH workshop and also a live demonstration of the developed framework in the Demonstration Session. Our work was awarded with the Best Paper Award. Moreover, Stratos Keranidis presented a live demonstration of our work with title "Online Evaluation of Sensing Characteristics for Radio Platforms in the CREW Testbed", in the Demonstration Sessions of MobiCom 2013.

Giannis Kazdaridis presented a live demonstration with title "Enabling Mobile Sensing through a DTN Framework", in the Demonstration Session of WiNTECH 2013.

CTVR PhD Course on Cognitive Radio Networks

NITlab members Stratos Keranidis and Nikos Makris attended the CTVR PhD Course on Cognitive Radio Networks in Dublin, Ireland between 13-16 May 2013.

The course provided an overview of the possibilities but also the issues that CRNs offer, ranging from theoretical and algorithmic design to practical implementation on research-oriented software-defined radio platforms like Iris and GNU-radio.
